The City of Madison invites the public to observe a test of election equipment scheduled for this Saturday. This initiative aims to ensure transparency and community involvement in the electoral process.
Mayor Rhodes-Conway stated, “Interested in learning how our election equipment works? As part of the City’s commitment to complete transparency, you have an opportunity to take a look at the equipment and learn how it works this Saturday.”
The Clerk’s Office conducts these tests before each election on DS200 tabulators to confirm accurate vote tallying on Election Day. The public test is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. at 2713 E. Washington Ave., October 26.
After testing, Clerk’s Office personnel secure ballot boxes and scanners with tamper-evident seals that have unique serial numbers. These numbers are recorded on each polling location’s Inspectors’ Statement, which poll workers verify when opening polls on Election Day.
The City Clerk’s Office emphasizes its goal that every eligible voter can cast a ballot and have it counted accurately.
