Madison College students achieved significant success at the Agricultural Machinery Service Technician (AMST) state competition held on February 8 in Fennimore. The college's teams secured first, second, fourth, and 16th places.
Nick Hoffmann and Charlie Lembke took first place. Josh Lalor and Nick Drissel earned second place. Emily Vick and Lydia Meinholz finished fourth, while Daniel Perez-Martinez and Logan Reilly came in 16th.
The event included participation from Madison College, North Central Technical College, Southwest Technical College, and Northwood Technical College with a total of 16 teams and 32 individuals competing.
Additionally, Madison College excelled in the Wisconsin Professional Agriculture Student (PAS) contest by taking five of the top six awards. Nick Hoffmann placed first, Charlie Lembke took second, Josh Lalor placed third, Nick Drissel earned fourth, and Emily Vick came in sixth.
Six teams from the state competition will advance to the National Professional Agriculture Student Contest scheduled for March 17-20, 2025, in Sheridan, Wyoming. Madison College will send six students to this national event.
The Wisconsin Professional Agriculture Student AMST Contest provided an opportunity for technical college students across Wisconsin to demonstrate their skills in various agricultural equipment stations such as tractors, implements, precision measuring, parts identification, a case study on artificial intelligence in agriculture, and a written exam.
