The University of Wisconsin–Madison has been ranked 38th in the world for academic reputation according to the 2025 Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings. This places UW–Madison as the 22nd highest-ranked university in the United States and fifth among Big Ten schools.

The rankings are derived from an extensive invitation-only survey, gathering opinions from over 55,000 scholars worldwide. These participants use their expertise to identify up to 15 universities they consider superior in research and teaching. Institutions gain if their recognition spans various countries and disciplines.

This year, Harvard University maintained its position at the top of the list for the 14th consecutive year. The survey evaluated a total of 300 institutions across 38 countries and territories.

UW–Madison's current standing marks an improvement from its previous rank of 39th in the last set of rankings conducted in 2023.
