Students at the University of Wisconsin–Madison are applying their classroom learning to real-world situations as they support a Wisconsin community recovering from a recent flood. The university has also launched an accelerated program aimed at addressing physician shortages in rural areas, with Shane Hoffman set to become its first graduate. In another development, UW–Madison is conducting a clinical trial that allows kidney transplant patients to live without daily anti-rejection medication.

"Badgers are back! Campus has reawakened as students settle in for a new academic year."

Thanks to these initiatives, the university continues to play an active role in both education and healthcare innovation within the state.
