City Response to Storm Damage

Stormdd

Monona City - WI issued the following announcement on June 13.

Significant number of fallen trees and power lines throughout Monona

At approximately 3:00 pm today, a severe storm moved through Monona, resulting in a significant number of fallen trees and power lines. City police, fire, and public works crews are prioritizing calls and responding to the most serious first. As of this time, no injuries have been reported; however, there are numerous trees blocking city streets.

Monona Police warn NOT to touch or attempt to remove tree limbs from power lines or close to power lines, and if you see a downed power line, call 9-1-1 so emergency crews can respond.

Police and fire crews are driving around the city and responding to issues they see. Public works crews are currently concentrating on removing trees from city streets to make them passable, beginning first with emergency routes. Today's cleanup is focused on clearing the streets.

The Monona Library and Community Center (including the Senior Center) are currently closed due to a power outage.

The City is planning for a special brush collection for storm damage. Stay tuned for more information as it's available.
