A Madison Police Department community outreach group known as Amigos en Azul (Friends in Blue) recently concluded its annual series of free soccer games for local youth.

This is the sixth consecutive year that Amigos en Azul has sponsored free soccer days for local children ages six to 16. The games were held on July 17, July 24 and July 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Marlborough Park and Penstone Park.

"Thank you @madisonpolice's Amigos En Azul for some great soccer action this past weekend at Marlborough Park," Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway wrote on Twitter. "You definitely had some competition."

Additionally, the event offered a free lunch to all children and families in attendance, as well as the required equipment needed to play, according to a press release from the City of Madison's official website.

Amigos en Azul (Friends in Blue), is a Madison Police Department special division and task force aimed at better protecting and interacting with the Latino community in the Madison-Dane area.

The group meets once or twice a month in order to discuss "program evaluation and planning" and to offer a variety of services and translations for crime reports, news and Spanish publications.
